Project Orientation

Looking to get started analyzing Scenes data, or working on the Scenes book project? These documents are intended to orient you to key elements of our dataset, our basic analytical procedures, and our standards for documentation.

An introduction to our analytical procedures.

An introduction to scenes variables available for use in modeling.

Scenes Project Memo (11/30/08)

Data

Our primary file for analysis is available for download here: Zip Code Level Data. (Look for MergeB-## with the highest number.) The page also features much of our source data.

Data Documentation

Information on the contents of our data files, as well as the syntax used to produce them, is available here. Of particular importance for most users are the codebook (an online Google Document, and a work in progress) providing info about the variables in the zipcode-level file, and, to a lesser extent, the CleanMerge.sps syntax file documenting the construction of the dataset.

Templates

TaskTemplatePropositions.doc (11/29/08)
Template for writing up proposed analyses. Helpful for planning work, but mostly of interest to Scenes project members.

Results Template.xls (11/30/08)
Excel template for presenting results of multiple regressions, for ease of discussion. Of interest mostly to Scenes project members.
